Ingredients
- Bhola bhetki fish – 3 pcs
- Onion, sliced – 2 medium size
- Ginger-garlic paste – 1 tsp
- Green chillies – 3 to 4
- Tomato, chopped – 1 large size
- Turmeric powder – 3 tsp
- Cumin powder – 1 tsp
- Coriander powder – 1 tsp
- Red chilli powder – 1 tsp
- Garam masala powder – 1 tsp
- Mace powder – ½ tsp
- Cinnamon stick – ½ inch
- Mustard oil
- Salt – to taste
Method
Marinate the
fish with salt and turmeric powder. Heat oil in a pan/kadhai. Fry the bhola
bhetki pcs in high flame. Remove and keep aside.
In the
remaining oil, first add the cinnamon stick (put the gas in medium flame). Add sliced
onions. When it turns to golden brown, add ginger-garlic paste, chopped
tomatoes and green chillies. Cook it for 3 to 4 mins. Now add turmeric powder, cumin
& coriander powder, red chilli powder, mace powder and salt. Add some warm
water and cook it with covered lid until the masala leaves oil. When it is
done, add the fish, garam masala powder and some more water. Cover the lid and
boil it for another 5 mins (in high flame). When the gravy becomes thick, your
fish jhaal farezi is ready to serve. Enjoy it with steamed rice.
