THOR-CHINGRI'r GHONTO (BANANA STEM FRY WITH PRAWNS)


Ingredients
  • Banana stems, finely chopped - 2 cups
  • Mustard seeds - 1/3 tsp
  • Dry red chilli - 2
  • Coconut, grated - 1/2 cup
  • Prawns, fried - 10 to 12 small size
  • Sugar - to taste
  • Salt - to taste
  • Mustard oil - as required

Method

Heat oil in pan. Add mustard seeds, dry red chillies. When it crackles, add the banana stems. Add turmeric powder, salt and sugar. Cover the lid and fry it in medium flame. In between stir well. After few mins add coconuts and fried prawns. Fry it with covered lid till it completely cooked. Serve hot with rice.


Banana stem helps in digestion, detoxification & weight loss. It contains a lot of iron and vitamin B6. Banana stem juice relaxes the bladder and helps prevent against painful kidney stones. Apart from these it has a lot of other benefits too. It is enriched with potassium and is effective to treat cholesterol and high blood pressure. 

One can omit the coconut & prawns to make that more healthy. One can also put it in mixed vegetables or in matar dal. A tasty and healthy food items for all.
