Chicken Bhuna Masala is a very popular dish. Bhuna masala can be used in mutton or egg or even in fish. This masala contain a lot of spices along with onions-garlic-ginger-tomatoes. Today I Share the recipe of Chicken Bhuna Masala. Tomatoes and spices give this curry a lip-smacking tanginess. It is a traditional curry, which is too delicious to enjoy with rice / roti.
Ingredients
- Chicken, on bone - 750 gm
- Bay leaf - 1
- Dry red chilli - 1
- Whole garam masala spices - 1inch cinnamon stick, 2 green cardamom, 4 cloves
- Onion, sliced - 3 large size
- Tomatoes, chopped - 2 medium size
- Ginger-garlic paste - 1 and 1/2 tsp
- Green chillies - 4
- Coriander powder - 1 tsp
- Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
- Garam masala powder - 1 tsp
- Red chilli powder - 1 tsp
- Lemon juice - 2 tsp
- Pepper powder - 1/2 tsp
- Salt - to taste
- Sugar - to taste
- Oil - as required
In a mixing bowl, take the chicken pieces. Add lemon juice and pepper powder. Marinate well and keep aside.
To make the Bhuna masala, put a wok on the gas. Heat oil. Add sugar to the oil. Stir well. Add the whole garam masala spices, Dry red chilli and bay leaf. Saute for a min. Add ginger garlic paste. Fry for a min. Add sliced onion and fry till golden brown. Add the chopped tomatoes and some salt. Cook for another few mins. Now add the green chillies, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, coriander powder. Mix well. Cook for 2 to 3 mins. Now the Bhuna masala is ready.
Add the marinated chicken to it. Mix well. Cover the lid. Cook in low medium low flame for 10 to 15 mins. In between stir well. If required add a little water (warm). Add garam masala powder. Cook it for another 10 mins with covered lid. The chicken becomes nice and soft. Serve hot with steamed rice / roti.
