Moong dal is one of the most available product in Indian kitchen. It is a delicious superfood for vegetarian. Moong is a high source of protein, fiber, antioxidants and phytonutrients. We can cook it in form of curry or snacks. It is low in calories, but since its rich in fibre & protein - two satiating nutrients that can help control hunger so you can reduce your calorie intake. Apart from such health benefits, it is exceptionally tasty and best paired with steamed basmati rice. Fish heads add an extraordinary taste to this curry.
Ingredients
- Moong dal, boiled - 1 cup
- Fish head - 2 medium size
- Dry red chilli - 1
- Bay leaf - 1
- Cumin seeds - 1/3 tsp
- Turmeric powder - 1 tsp
- Garam masala powder - 1/2 tsp
- Ghee - 1 tsp
- Salt - taste
- Sugar - to taste
- Oil - as required
Method
Marinate the fish head with some salt and turmeric powder. Heat oil for fry. Add the fish heads one by one. Fryand keep aside. Break the fish heads into small pieces.
Heat 1 tsp ghee. Add bay leaf, dry red chilli and cumin seeds. When it starts to crackle, add the boiled moong dal. Add some turmeric powder, garam masala powder, salt and sugar. Stir well. Add the fish head pieces and some water (warm). Bring it to boil. Serve hot with steamed rice.
