BHINDI BHURJI (LADY'S FINGER/OKRA)


Green vegetables are always good for health. Lady finger/ bhindi has been a part of Indian cuisine for ages. It is high in fibre, helps to control heart disease and blood sugar level. The low calorie content of bhindi and its high fibre content make it a suitable food for weight loss. It is considered as essential food for ladies who are trying to conceive and also prevent miscarriage. Apart from bhindi improves digestion and immunity. It has a lot of other benefits too. So, its very important to include this vegetable to our daily food. Here I share the recipe of Bhindi Bhurji.


Ingredients
  • Bhindi, cut into small pcs - 12 to 15
  • Onion, sliced -1 small size
  • Coconut, grated - 1/2 cup
  • Green chillies - 2
  • Turmeric powder - 1/3 tsp
  • Salt - to taste
  • Sugar - to taste
  • Oil - as required

Method

Put a pan on the gas. Heat 2 tsp oil. Add the sliced onion and fry for a few min. Add the bhindi to it. Add some turmeric powder. Fry it in high flame for 4 to 5 mins. Add grated coconut, green chillies, salt and sugar. Fry for another few mins. When it is nice in color and completely cooked, serve hot with rice.
