I always love to try new recipes of chicken. My niece will come today to my house for dinner and her favorite food is any chicken dish. She is just 3 yrs old. Though she doesn't like sweet preparation, I don't wanna make a very spicy one. So I decide to make a sweet as well as sour chicken dish, i.e. Honey Garlic Chicken (Dry). It is very easy to make and perfect for kids as it is less spicy and mostly children don't like gravy items. Today's dinner recipe is specially made for her. You can serve it as snacks to your guest too. I am quite sure that everyone will like to have such a sweet n sour preparation.
Ingredients
- Chicken, boneless, cut into cube pcs - 800gm
- Onion, finely chopped - 1 large size
- Garlic, chopped - 1 tsp
- Ginger, chopped - 1 tsp
- Green chilli, chopped - 1 tsp
- Red chilli flakes - 1/2 tsp
- Chilli vinegar - 1 tsp
- White pepper powder - 1 tsp
- Soya sauce - 2 tsp
- Honey - 1/4 cup
- Lemon juice - 2 to 3 tsp as per taste
- Chicken broth - 1/3 cup
- Dry red chilli - 1
- Corn flour - 3 tsp
- All purpose flour - 3 tsp
- Egg - 1
- Baking powder - 1/3 tsp
- Salt - to taste
- Sugar - to taste
- Oil - as required
Method
In a mixing bowl, take the chicken pieces. Add white pepper powder, chilli vinegar, 1 tsp soya sauce, chopped green chillies, some salt and sugar. Give it a nice mix. Keep this marinated chicken for half an hour.
In a bowl, lightly whisk the egg and mix the baking powder, corn flour & all purpose flour. The batter should be smooth and make it in thick consistency. Pour it into the marinated chicken. Mix well.
Heat up a wok with the oil on medium high heat. Add the marinated chicken one by one and deep fry to golden brown. Take it out on paper towels so that the excess oil can be absorbed.
In a pan, heat 1 tsp oil. Add the dry red chilli. A few secs later, add the chopped onion-garlic-ginger. Fry for a min or two in high flame. Do not overcook. Add the soya sauce, honey and lemon juice. Give it a nice stir. Add the chicken broth to it. Add some salt and red chilli flakes. Bring it to boil. When the sauce becomes thick, add the fried chicken to it. Mix well and switch off the flame. Enjoy this dry honey garlic chicken.
