SHEEM NAZAKAT (FLAT BEANS WITH POPPY SEEDS)


Ingredients
  • Sheem (flat beans) - 300 gm
  • Nigella seeds (kalonji) - 1/3 tsp
  • Tomatoes, chopped - 1 small size
  • Turmeric powder - 1/3 tsp
  • Poppy seeds, soaked in water - 3 to 4 tsp
  • Black mustard, soaked in water - 1 tsp
  • Green chilli - 2
  • Cashew nuts - 7 to 8
  • Salt - to taste
  • Sugar - to taste
  • Mustard oil - as required

Method

Put the poppy seeds, black mustard, chopped tomatoes, green chilli and cahew nuts in a blender. Add a little water and make a fine smooth paste. Keep aside.


Heat a 2 tsp oil in a pan. Add nigella seeds. Add the sheem or flat beans to it. Sprinkle some salt and turmeric powder. Fry till almost cooked. Add the paste to it and some sugar. Give it a nice mix. Cook for a few mins. Add some warm water. Cook until becomes dry. Add 1 tsp mustard oil. Mix well and serve hot with steamed rice.
