VEGETABLE FISH CURRY



After waking up in the morning, the first thing strikes in my mind - what to cook. Really, a very big question. Health n taste are equally important to all. And I always love to buy and cook veggies. We all know that bengalis are fond of fishes. We consider that lunch is quite incomplete without fish. In the mean time, clock is running fast and I have to get ready for my office. So, I have to cook something healthy as well as tasty. Today's recipe is very simple - Vegetable Fish Curry. Yummmmm! 


Ingredients
  • Fish - 6 pcs
  • Onion, sliced - 1
  • Ginger, grated - 1 tsp
  • Tomato, chopped - 1
  • Green chilli - 5
  • Potatoes, cut into long pcs - 1 large size
  • Cauli flower - 1 cup
  • Flat beans (sheem) - 7 to 8
  • Carrots, cut into long pcs - 1
  • Radish, cut into long pcs -1
  • Beans, cut into long pcs - 1/2 cup
  • Raw banana, cut into long pcs - 1
  • Drumstick, cut into long pcs - 1 cup
  • Fresh coriander leaves, chopped - 2 tsp
  • Cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp
  • Turmeric powder - 1 tsp
  • Cumin powder - 1 tsp
  • Coriander powder - 1 tsp
  • Pepper powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Garam masala powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Salt - to taste
  • Sugar - to taste
  • Oil - as required

Method

Marinate the fishes with some salt and turmeric powder. 


Heat oil in a wok or pan. Once the oil is hot enough, add the fishes one by one. Turn and fry both sides of the fishes. Take these out and keep aside.


Keep 2 tsp oil in the wok and take out the remaining oil. Add cumin seeds. It starts to crackle within a sec. Add the sliced onion and tomatoes. After a few sec add the ginger. Fry it for another few secs. Add potatoes, cauli flowers, carrots, radish and beans one by one. After a min or two, add flat beans, raw bananas and drumsticks. Add some turmeric powder and salt. Fry for a few mins.


Add cumin-coriander powder, pepper powder, garam masala powder and a little sugar. Add some warm water and cook. Once the masala is cooked well, add some more water (warm) and the chopped coriander leaves. Cover the lid and bring it to boil. Once the vegetables are nice and cooked, add the fried fishes. Cook it for another few mins. Switch off the flame. Serve with hot steamed rice.
