Getting bored with regular chicken gravy? Then you must try this one. A simple but totally unique recipe - Orange Chicken. Aaahhhh! I am in love with it. The crispy chicken in orange flavour is just awesome. It takes hardly 5 mins after marination. Kids must be happy with these non spicy chicken dish. Serve it along with fruit fried rice.
- Chicken, boneless - 750 gm
- Lime juice - 2 tsp
- Black pepper powder - 1 tsp
- Corn flour - 3 tsp
- All purpose flour - 2 tsp
- Egg - 1
- Baking powder - a pinch of
- Orange - 3
- Ginger- garlic, chopped - 1 tsp
- Soya sauce - 1 tsp
- Brown sugar - 3 to 4 tsp
- Vinegar - 1 tsp
- Chilli flakes - 1 tsp
- Orange juice - 1 large cup
- Orange zest - 1/2 tsp
- Salt - to taste
- Oil - as required
Method
Cut the boneless chicken into 1 inch size. Marinate them with some salt and pepper powder. Add lime juice. Mix well. In a mixing bowl, take corn flour, all pupose flour, pepper powder, salt and a pinch of baking powder. Mix well. Beat one egg into it. Add some water and make a fine smooth medium thick batter. Put the chicken into it. Give it a nice mix. Cover and keep it in refrigerator for at least 30 mins.
Cut the top of the orange and take out the orange slices using a spoon. Keep this bowl type orange aside. Make juice out of those slices.
Heat oil for deep fry. Put the chicken into it. Fry from all sides till light brown. Take these out on a kitchen towel. After 5mins, add these chicken ito the oil and fry till golden brown. Take these out and keep aside.
In a pan, heat 1 tsp oil. Add the ginger garlic. Fry for a few sec on high flame. Add brown sugar, soya sauce and chilli flakes. Add the vinegar and orange juice. Add a little water. Bring it to boil. In a bowl take 1 tsp of corn flour, add some water and mix well. Add this to the boiling sauce. Once the sauce becomes thick, add the chicken pcs. Give it a nice mix. Add the orange zest. Put the chicken into the orange and serve.
