BHINDI POSTO | OKRA IN POPPY SEEDS PASTE


Bhindi or okra is very famous to all. We used to make bhindi bhaji, masala bhindi, kurkure bhindi etc. Even boiled bhindi along with some salt and mustard oil is just awesome. In Bengal, posto is a very common ingredients to everyday meal. Today's recipe is not alu posto, its Bhindi Posto. A very common recipe, tasty as well can be made easily. Whenever, I am in hurry during weekdays before going to office, I used to make different posto dishes as it requires less ingredients and time. now let's get the recipe -


Ingredients
  • Bhindi (Ladies finger or okra) - 200 gm
  • Poppy seeds, soaked in water - 3 tsp
  • Cashew nuts - 8
  • Green chilli - 3
  • Black cumin - 1/3 tsp
  • Turmeric powder - 1/3 tsp
  • Salt - to taste
  • Sugar - to taste
  • Mustard oil - as required

Method

Wash the bhindi. Cut into two halves from the middle. Sprinkle turmeric powder.


In a blender, add poppy seeds, cashew nuts and 2 green chillies. Add some water and make a fine smooth paste.


In a pan, heat oil. Add black cumin seeds. It starts to crackle within a few sec. Add the bhindi and fry till the color changes. Add the grinded paste and some salt & sugar. Give it a nice mix. Add a little water (warm). Once it becomes dry, add 1tsp mustard oil and the green chilli. Serve hot with rice.
